The Broz: Our Favorite Design Features

ree

At The Broz Event Venue, history meets modern elegance. Built in 1898 by visionary Bohemian immigrant Wenceslas Broz and designed by famed architect Cass Gilbert, this extraordinary property was once celebrated as the finest hotel in all of Minnesota. Today, that same grandeur and craftsmanship create a one-of-a-kind setting for weddings and celebrations that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

A Historic Hotel with a Modern Heart

Step inside the restored Hotel Broz, and you’ll immediately feel its historic charm. Original architectural details—arched windows, ornate woodwork, and soaring ceilings—tell the story of a bygone era while offering every modern comfort. What makes The Broz truly unique is that brides, grooms, and their families can still stay overnight in the very same hotel, just as guests did more than a century ago. With beautifully appointed rooms and on-site suites, the celebration doesn’t end when the music stops.

The Hidden Speakeasy

Every great hotel has a few secrets—and at The Broz, the best one is the Speakeasy. Tucked behind an antique armoire, this cozy hidden bar is a nod to the prohibition-era charm that makes guests feel like they’ve stumbled upon a well-kept secret. Full of nooks, crannies, and good vibes, it’s the perfect place for a nightcap, rehearsal gathering, or post-reception toast surrounded by vintage décor and a whisper of mystery.

The Brick Room: Industrial Warmth Meets Historic Character

The Brick Room blends industrial architecture with timeless romance. Its exposed brick walls, refinished wood floors, and steel truss ceiling create an atmosphere that’s equal parts rugged and refined. Whether used for dinner, dancing, or intimate ceremonies, this space captures the soul of the building—strong, authentic, and unforgettable.

The Historic Bridal Suite

Few spaces are as special as the Bridal Suite, which was once Mr. Broz’s private residence over 130 years ago. This light-filled suite features original wood floors, pressed tin ceilings, and hand-painted stained glass windows that cast a warm, romantic glow across the room. With five vanities, a full private bath, and elegant chandeliers, it’s the perfect place for brides and their wedding parties to prepare, relax, and make memories before walking down the aisle.

The Groom’s Quarters

Down the hall, the Groom’s Quarters offers a relaxed retreat with a nod to tradition. The space features an original copper tin ceiling, a poker and bumper pool table, a large putting green, and comfortable lounge furniture—making it the perfect place for the groom and groomsmen to unwind before the big moment.

The Lawn and Brick Patio

Outside, the charm continues. The beautiful lawn can accommodate up to 300 guests for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dinners under the stars or the summer sun. The adjoining brick patio, crafted from repurposed Chicago street bricks, adds character and warmth—an ideal backdrop for mingling guests, string lights, and al fresco dining.

Architectural Beauty, Timeless Legacy

Every corner of The Broz reveals craftsmanship that stands the test of time. From the arched windows to the wrought-iron details, the building is a testament to Cass Gilbert’s architectural brilliance. This isn’t just a venue—it’s a living piece of Minnesota history, lovingly restored for today’s celebrations.
